100. [Video/Action for Saffron City]

[Wow.]
[That Vulpix on the screen sure looks pissed.]
[The ironic presence of the happy leftover Christmas lights behind it doesn't help.]
[A heavy sigh sounds from off-camera.]
Man.
Leave it to her to get one last dig in just when I thought it was over.
[But Heather apparently isn't gonna elaborate on who 'her' is... though anyone who witnessed Heather's fiery freakout over the summer and knew what it was about might have a decent guess.]
[The camera just shifts as she gets up-- it lingers briefly on what looks like a box filled with crumpled wrapping paper-- in the middle of it sit two large eggs.]
Hopefully the other living presents we got this year'll be friendlier.
[She turns the camera around at last and sort of regards it for a moment, chewing absent-mindedly on her lip. She's got a big wooly winter hat on, so either she just got in or she's about to go out. Probably the latter.]
... Screw this year, man. Bring on the new one.
[HAPPY NEW YEAR ERRYBODY.]
[ooc: ANYONE IN SAFFRON CITY IS FREE TO RUN INTO HEATHER, or assume she randomly stopped by wherever they are.]
[action]
[His Tyranitar is following behind him, and so is his Yamask. It's chance when he walks by on the other side of the street from where Heather is, and while he doesn't spot her, Edmund the Yamask does. Envy'd explained who they were going to see, so he thinks he recognizes her as the right person.]
[Envy fails to pay enough attention to the light tugs on his coat, so clearly the only thing for it is for Edmund to go see if he can get Heather's attention himself.]
[So Heather will have a slightly timid-looking Yamask tapping her on the shoulder.]
[action]
[But the funny thing about being tapped on the shoulder by a tiny ghost when there's not actually anybody nearby in her peripheral vision is that it's a little... startling. At least when you're already on-edge.]
[Heather doesn't make a sound, but she does JOLT and twist around, glancing about wildly for a second or two. Expecting to see... y'know, a person.]
[... Except it's a... a.... one of those things! Oh.]
... Uh... HEY, little... dude.
[action]
[But he nods in greeting before pointing across the street at Envy and Chimera (who is probably easier to spot, honestly), making a questioning sound. Do you know my friends over there?]
[action]
... Oh!
Your trainer's Envy?
... HEY! ENVY!
[action]
Hey yourself. I see my ghost spotted you.
[Edmund nods shyly and darts around behind Envy's shoulder, although not out of sight completely.]
[action]
Hey, yeah. I guess my stupid hat stands out in a crowd.
I didn't know you were in town!
[action]
Just got here, actually.
[He snorts.] And speaking of stupid hats, I got your present.
[action]
Seems like we both had the same general idea, huh?
[action]
[He snickers, and pulls his bag off of one shoulder and around so that he can fish something out of it. And what he's looking for isn't exactly difficult to find, so it's only a second before he pulls out the hat. The feather is a little crumpled, but not nearly as bad as it could be. He was careful packing it.]
[With a flourish, he puts the hat on, tipping it at an angle and posturing as though he's the most fashionable person on the block.] I think it suits me.
[action]
Y'know what, I think it does too.
... Mine's back in the hotel room, otherwise I'd put it on and we could be dumb hat twins.
[action]
What, you haven't been carrying yours around everywhere, waiting for the opportunity? I'm hurt.
[Then he laughs.] Not that I'd have mine either, if I hadn't just gotten off the train.
Hey, were you headed anywhere in particular before? [Because unless she tells him to gtfo, she has obtained one (1) tree-headed tagalong.]
[action]
[Smiling, she stuffs her hands into her pockets.]
Not really. I was just wandering. Care to join?
[action]
[Envy grins back, and takes a moment to stretch his arms back behind his head.]
I could use some wandering after that train ride. That thing's a lot faster than anything back home, but six hours is still too long to be sitting.
[action]
I had to keep on getting up and wandering around during the ride. Couldn't sit still that long.
[She starts to resume her slow meandering down the sidewalk-- Saffron is huge. Like Goldenrod, it's a good place to walk.]
[action]
[Envy takes a moment to take off the hat and put it back in his bag before he starts walking himself, hands in his pockets and matching her pace. And with Chimera stomping along close behind them, the crowds aren't going to get too pushy.]
...hard to believe this is the third new years I've spent here. It's your third one too, right?
[action]
[She lets out a puff of breath as they walk and watches it evaporate into the night.]
Like, it's not one of those 'oh I feel like I just got here yesterday' things, but... still. It doesn't feel like it's been three years.
[action]
It doesn't. For me, it feels like it's been longer. Three years, normally they'd go by like that. [He snaps his fingers for emphasis.]
Feels like I've been here a decade.
[action]
Me, I can hardly believe it's been three.
One, maybe.
[action]
[Although as they walk, they're coming up on the Fighting Dojo; the sound of thumping feet and shouted HAHs are faintly audible even out on the street. A small group of Blackbelts and walk out the front door in front of them, laughing over some sort of joke with their Pokemon following behind.]
[And since it's sort of impossible to get around people, two Machamps, and a Hitmonlee taking up the entire sidewalk, Envy stops and gives the dojo a more interested second glance.]
You ever actually been in there?
[action]
I guess you're right!
[But as the Dojo building looms up ahead, Heather pauses, hands still in pockets, looking at the passing fighters and then up at the doors.]
I haven't, actually... word on the street is it like, used to be the main gym of the town but then they all got whomped by Sabrina and had to step down.
[action]
Yeah, I think I heard something about that.
[He tries to get a look at the inside of the building through one of the windows, getting more curious. And hey, after that train ride some exercise doesn't sound half bad.]
Want to check out what's in there?
[action]
... Sure, why not?
Never been in a dojo before, unless that Gym in Cianwood counts.
[action]
[He goes to the doors, pushing one open to walk in and absently holding it behind him for Heather. There's people and Pokemon sparring or having battles, but it isn't too crowded.]
[action]
[But stayed to TRAIN... no, she hadn't done that.]
[She slips in after Envy, pausing briefly to look around. Dead tonight... but it's cold and late, so she's not surprised.]
... Huh...
[action]
[He's looking around too, putting his hands back in his pockets even though they're inside now.]
Well, there's a distinct lack of waterfall puzzles in this one. Not that I'm complaining.
[He pauses giving the dojo another look, before giving her a challenging half-grin.] Hey, interested in sparring while we're in here?
