Heather received Marble as a Christmas egg and didn't even realize he'd hatched shiny until she eventually saw a normally-colored Venipede belonging to someone else. Although she'd inherited shiny Pokemon from friends before, he was technically the first one she'd obtained on her own.
Thus far, Marble is a bit of an enigma. A bug of few words, he spends most of his time eating and sleeping. It was his tendency as a Venipede to nap in unexpected places (the linen closet, behind the cereal in the cupboard, hanging from the bathroom doorframe directly at eye-level in the middle of the night...) and unwittingly ("""unwittingly""") startle whoever stumbled across him that led to his nickname (shhhhh Heather's mid-2000's, she totally knows enough to make the obscure reference).
It's a bit hard to read expressions on the face of an insect, but Heather could swear he legitimately enjoys the reactions he gets from spooking people...
