[The feed flickers on and off a few times so anyone who's looking at Heather's channel is being treated to a sort of trippy view of the ceiling of one of the many floors in the Goldenrod Department Store, jiggling around as though the 'Gear is the subject of a tug-of-war.]

[And uh... judging by the voices that are conversing in heated tones somewhere off-screen, it is.]

The words 'AND YOU CAN HAVE IT AT THE END OF THE DAY IF YOU THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU'VE DONE!' were still ringing in her ears.]}

[Jutting her chin out resentfully, she planted it on one palm with her scrawny elbow on the counter, plucking uncomfortably at the fairly-silly-looking Department Store clerk's uniform she had to wear. Yes, there was even a cutesy little hat and a popped collar.]

God, it's like high school all over again....

There are, but none of the restaurants wanna hire me on account of my spiffy-keen criminal record.

I guess 'wanted for assault at one point' and 'job involving being around a lot of silverware' don't fit together.

I don't think that lady controls everything-- some of the other supervisors seem pretty chill. I just happen to be stuck with her. It's luck of the draw, I guess.

Uh... heh, it wasn't a very flattering one, I'm afraid. _{[... And to be honest, she's still not entirely certain what her impression of them is. She's used to looking on anyone in authority with wariness at best and outright hatred at worst. Even Phoenix, who she's awful fond of, still evokes that automatic cautious 'don't say too much' instinct in her. ... Though that all kind of went out the window a few weeks ago when he'd gotten her to more or less spill her guts.]}

Let's just say I didn't think any honest ones existed outside of Atticus Finch.

[If it makes Heather feel better, Phoenix evokes a "don't say too much" reaction in Apollo too. For different reasons.]

There are a lot of dishonest attorneys on both sides. Some of them don't care what they do as long as they get the verdict they want. They'll let innocent people hang as long as it suits them!

[Woah, okay, he got kind of angry there. It was a little personal.] S-sorry. I didn't mean to go off like that.

... Heh, no need to worry about it. _{[She can tell the apple didn't fall too far from the tree here (though she's pretty sure Apollo and Phoenix aren't related, she can definitely see some similarities in outlook.]}

Honestly, that's kinda been my experience.

Not so much with attorneys specifically, but... y'know, the law in general.
