041. Video/Audio
[There's a brief snapshot view of Heather's hotel room as the camera swings around-- the bed doesn't look slept in (although it is rumpled), her possessions are haphazardly on the floor by the wall-- as though they'd been tossed there and then nudged distractedly out of the way instead of picked up, and for once Cujo, who is lying on his belly over by the bathroom door, doesn't look like his usual derpily happy self. His cream-dotted doggy brows are peaked and his snout is on the floor between his paws. He's looking over in the direction of the camera worriedly.]
[That's all the viewer gets, though, because the camera turns on Heather as soon as she's got a good grip on the 'Gear.]
[There's rings under her eyes and she's just in a tank-top-- fairly obvious she hasn't slept yet. Her stare has a kind of angry energy to it despite her obvious exhaustion, though, and her voice is hoarse and flat in tone, like she spent the whole night yelling. Which she probably had.]
If there's someone in Goldenrod who wants to do a practice battle, hit me up. I'll be on that town green by that Slowbroco business building.
Don't come if you're not packing some power. I'm not going to play nice and I'd rather blow off steam on something or someone who can take it.
[And then she throws her bag's strap across her shoulder and hits disconnect.]
[Audio, to Liquid.]
Liquid.
If you're there and aren't busy with something, can-- ... can we just-- fight?
I... I need to blow off some steam.
If not, that's okay, I'll figure something out.
....
I guess.
Yeah.

[action]
[The inevitable shockwave produced by the blast sends Cujo tumbling head over tail across the grass, though he rights himself quickly-- and... uh, looks a little singed. The next blow hits him full-on since he's not running to escape it-- the pup hunkers down against the wind, floppy ears pinned and fur rippling. He whines loudly.]
[Heather, for her part, knows she needs to get him on the offensive again-- but that wind will make it pretty damn hard to land any attacks. It's too strong for Cujo to run straight into it and if he tries to use Flamethrower, all the fire will just come blowing right back into his own face-- .... Wait.]
... CUJO! Flamethrower! Give it all you got!
[If he were a slightly brighter Pokemon, he'd have questioned his trainer's logic. And if he were a SMART Pokemon, he'd have understood what she was doing. ... BUT he's neither, so there's not a whole lot of comprehension on his part when he opens his mouth wide and spews fire straight into the heart of the wind.]
[... And the flames, uh, don't even get close to Puff. They just buckle against the wind and ripple backwards-- engulfing Cujo.]
[action]
--Change of plans! Use Stockpile once, and then Baton Pass!
[Stockpile should increase his defenses again, and then Baton Pass will switch him out while keeping the defense boost in play -- trouble is, it will take a few seconds to pull the move off, in which Heather could potentially order Cujo to do something devastating.]
[action]
[But wind or no, that Flash Fire was doing its job-- and 'something devastating' was pretty much what Heather had in mind. She still was no expert, but ever since losing to Falkner and generally getting a wake-up call, she had been doing a little more of her homework when it came to her own Pokemons' abilities. And she knew at least one kind of attack that was good against ghosts.]
[With the pup's power amped up, and no awful wind to force him backwards, now was the time to act.]
NOW-- CRUNCH!
[action]
Either way, Juudai's about to switch, but he just hopes Puff can hang on from a boosted Crunch...
The teeth meet not-quite-rubber, and the result seems painful, moreso than the previous Flamethrowers -- Puff deflates a great deal, almost hitting the ground, but manages to hang on by the skin of his teeth, so to speak, and Baton Passes out.
Damn, that was way too close.]
Okay, tag in, Feather!!
[He COULD switch to Thrasher the Gyarados and have a type advantage for a quick and easy win, but that would be boring and missing the point of the battle... so he'll call out the Pidgeot who has neither an advantage nor a disadvantage, type-wise.]
Start with Sand-Attack!
[...Taking advantage of Cujo's probable derp? Very likely. At least with the slightly strengthened defenses of a normally-frail bird Pokemon, he's less concerned about being taken down in a single hit. Feather swoops in close to the ground, close to Cujo, and starts batting her wings to kick up dirt in the dog's face.]
[action]
[Cujo, meanwhile, looks incredibly confused when his BRAND NEW CHEW TOY ~OMG~ disappears. 8c WHAR DID THE BIG BALL GO?]
[And then there is suddenly sand being kicked in his face holy bacon what is this, WHAT IS THIS.]
[Yelping, he backs up, falls over, gets back up again, and decides to deal with this new and startling problem by turning in circles. ... That... is really not too productive, Cujo.]
Crap-- Cooj, FLAMETHROWER!
[Heeeee shoots.... aaaand misses.]
