OKAY IT IS SETTLED
IF THEY EVER GIVE US PS2s HERE
WE ARE GOING TO PLAY SUPER SMASH BROS
and I will win
[text]
It's too bad they probably won't.
[text]
... yeah.
bummer, man
[text]
Kinda disappointing, isn't it?
[text]
Now that I think of it, it really IS.
[text]
And this place is supposed to be based off of a video game, too.
[text]
S'kinda trippy, really... except for the wtf glitch thing, I never really... FELT like it was a video game...
[text]
Me neither. And I still don't like thinking of this place as being an actual video game.
[text]
I don't think it is
When I walk around barefoot, I can feel all the nasty-ass grit and stuff between my toes.
And I got grass-stains on my vest the first week here.
I don't think that stuff would be there if this was a video game.
that's real-life stuff. You can't make that up.
[text]
Even the most detailed virtual reality games can't simulate that.
... and some of the natives don't act like NPCs either.
[text]
Exactly. I mean, you can argue some kind of Matrix shit, but I don't buy it. My bruises still turn all yellowy when they heal. Who would think to REMEMBER stuff like that?
And yeah.
Even the most... repetitive of the people here are like
I don't know
those geeky kids at school who only ever talk about one thing, like World of Warcraft or something and they're kind of annoying.
They're still PEOPLE
[text]
I like thinking this place is real.
[he doesn't say it, but it means the friendships he's made here are real too][text]
Whatever else it may be, it's real all right
I can tell
[text]
Glad 'm not the only one who thinks that, heh.
... that detective guy. Kudo. He thought it was a virtual reality. But he's a detective, so he's not the type to believe in things like Pokemon or alternate worlds.
[text]
.... WELL.
Detectives are not exactly renowned for their creativity.
Douglas sure wasn't.
[She loved the old guy, but... he was pretty much the opposite of 'creative'.]
[text]
I still don't know how you managed to be friends with one.
[he teases, honestly][text]
Weeeeeeeell it's a long story.
[text]
It's okay Heather, I won't judge you based on your taste in friends.
[MORE TEASING really he doesn't dislike detectives as much as he makes it sound][text]
Aw come on man, if I'm not friends with him, who WILL be?
[It... actually was kind of sadly true. Douglas really didn't have any other friends besides her.]
[text]
So you're taking one for the team? You're a brave soul, Heather.
[so totally teasing]
