50. Accidental Video
[When the feed flickers on, it's first displaying a somewhat unsteady view of Heather's back. Occasionally it swivels back and forth shakily-- showing a blurry view of what looked like a lot of cracked eggshells. There were a few towels lying crumpled on the floor, as well. Her voice, muffled and slightly blotted out by the constant clicking and rattling noises resulting from the Totodile claws that are grappling to keep hold on the camera.]
--thought you weren't gonna make it before the first day've the New Year was over. Guess you like cuttin' it close to the wire, huh little guy?
[There's something small but fuzzy and ragged-looking draped over her shoulder, jostling slightly as she rubs it down with a towel.]
[It's white, mostly-- with spiky, damp hair and something indistinct sticking out of its head-- something black and sickle-like. A reaper-y blade.]
Guess it's appropriate, though.
[She sits back and the camera's view scurries forward a little bit, swiveling upwards insistently. Catching sight of it (and its carrier-- guess who) out of the corner of her eye, Heather turns with a quirked brow.]
Wh-- Zilla, put that thing down, you're gonna break it.
[She uses one hand to better support the fuzzy white thing cradled against her shoulder and makes a sort of halfhearted grab for Godzilla and the 'Gear with the other-- he dances out of reach, but she does hit a button and the Pokedex function comes online.]
... Predicting disasters, huh.
Guess I'm safe, then. Mine's already happened.
I know just what I'm gonna call you.
[Curious about the newest addition to their little motley crew, Godzilla inches forward with the camera once again, zooming in on the little creature's face. As the view gets clearer, a single red eye-- the one not obscured by a limp mop of white fur-- drifts open.]

How do you feel about 'Alessa'?
[ooc: TAGS WILL COME TOMORROW-- I just realized I'm running a fever and shit's starting to move that really shouldn't. SORRY ILU GUYS. I'll-- .. um, I'll be back later. 8(;]

ABSOL, the DISASTER POKEMON. It has the ability to predict disasters and impending danger. Its tendency to only appear before humans prior to disasters has earned it a reputation as an evil omen and often caused it to become a target, leading to the species becoming even more shy and reclusive.

[action] fff thank you ;-;
Anyway, here she is... I'm just glad she hasn't lit anything on fire yet...
[The flames only seemed to get hot enough to harm when the pony WANTED them to, and thankfully she seemed pretty chill.
Did you see what I did there.][Carousel soaked up the attention like a sponge-- Alessa seemed a little more standoffish. She didn't back away or bite, but she stayed curled up as she was stroked-- silent, too. Shy straight from the egg, it seemed.]
[Cujo, meanwhile, was THRILLED at the arrival of another playmate, and showed his feelings by running in circles around the room a few times and then bringing the Flareon a pair of Heather's jeans as a peace offering.]
[Heather, meanwhile, was shoving the ice cream into the cooler before it all melted.]
[action]
Y-yeah, that'd be pretty bad. But she looks like such a good girl, so I'm sure it'll be okay.
[action]
Yeah, she's sweet. I don't know much about horses, but she's been pretty quiet.
ANYWAY.
Heads up!
[She tosses Rise a little carton of ice cream.]
[action]
[ thank you reflexes that come from dancing onstage, she's catching it neatly. ] Thanks. Do you have any spoons?
[action]
[She's pulling a package of plastic spoons out of the bag with the cooler in it.]
I bought a ton. I was kinda sick of eating things with my fingers like a heathen anyway.
[She grins and shoves a few pillows from the bed onto the floor. One of them winds up being Arty. WHUMP.]
[The Furret lifts her head to give the entire room a sour look.]
... Oh. Whoops.
[action]
[action]
[Heather ignored this silent exchange entirely. She was kicking her boots off and sort of tossing them in the general direction of the door with her feet-- apparently she couldn't be bothered to walk back over there, herself.]
Holy crap, it has been WAY too long since I've had a sleepover.
I think the last time I did, it was back during like... the princess phase.
[... The times when she'd crashed at random peoples' houses after parties did not count.]
[action]
I don't think I've ever had one.
[action]
... You poor thing.
[Without another word, she heads over and steers Rise over to the spot she'd dumped all the pillows in.]
I don't have makeover materials [And she's inwardly thanking the heavens for that.] or girly princess movies, but I think we'll be able to make do anyway.
[action]
... Wow, Rise. ]
I think we miiiight be a little too old for girly princess movies, anyway.
[ except Rise's probably the type to get enthralled at any age. ]
[action]
[She flops down onto one of the pillows, looking thoughtful.]
S'too bad we don't have any, actually... we could've brought Liquid in here to watch with us!
[action]
[action]
[She mimed having flowy hair and fluttering her eyelashes for a second before reaching over and grabbing one of the little ice cream cartons out of the cooler.]
[action]
He is really pretty for a guy.
[action]
Seriously.
You should see him obsess over his hair, too. No man will ever love a woman as much as Liquid loves his hair.
I tease him about it sometimes but he gets all huffy.
[And usually smacked her upside the head.]
[action]
Maybe even less likely.
Oh, Heather, she's missed you. ]
Well, if I had hair like his, I'd love it, too. Except I don't think I could pull off blonde very well.
[action]
You don't think so?
[Heather paused briefly to stroke her chin in a thoughtful manner and squint at Rise.]
... Yeah, I think you're better off goin' natural, actually. Red's nice.
[action]
It's helped me stand out in a crowd, so it's kind of a blessing and a curse.
[action]
Yeah?
Is that what made the agents and stuff spot you out to become an idol?
... Aside from the singing, I mean?
[Anyone with a dash of sense knew how shallow the media could be, and Heather was willing to bet that aspect wasn't much different in Japan than it was in America.]
[action]
No, believe it or not, my relative sent in an application for this competition that was going on. "Be the next big idol!"... or something like that. I didn't even know I'd been entered until they called me in for the next round to see what I could do. If I had what it took. Who knows, though... maybe it was the hair that got their attention.
[ she sticks the spoon back in her mouth, mumbling around it. ] I didn't even want to do it at first.
[action]
[Harry would have blown a GASKET if anyone had done that with Heather... but then, he was super-dad]
[Heather smiles a little, sympathetically.]
Must've been weird getting so much attention outta nowhere, huh.
[action]
[ especially for this super-shy girl who still hadn't mastered looking up when she spoke to people. She returns Heather's smile with a rueful one of her own. ]
It was, a little. But I decided to go for it because I thought I'd finally be able to make friends that way, so I didn't want to just run screaming after the first day.
[ just don't ask her how that friends plan went, Heather. ]
[action]
[She won't ask, because she remembers Rise telling her before about how lonely she'd always been, before and during idol-hood.]
Well, you got guts, that's for sure... Big crowds, crazy fans... the thought of that kind of attention's always kinda given me the wig.
[action]
[action]
And... yeah. There's only so much running away will do. Sometimes it's necessary, but... in the end, I've found it doesn't usually get you anywhere.
