_{[Heather is sitting in the lobby of the Violet inn. This would not be too remarkable, except for the fact that there's a couple of gift-y looking boxes in front of her. She's staring at them with an expression that's a ... very weird combination of confused and... slightly unsettled.]

[Pretty much only the fact that one of them had Kaito's name on it was stopping her from throwing them away entirely. The one from flaming blanket man was even more baffling. Obviously neither of them were what made this weird in the slightest-- Kaito was one of her best friends for crying out loud, and the Proff' was probably the least threatening person she'd ever MET-- but mystery gifts held some unfortunate associations for Heather. ... But hey, even if they didn't, the boxes' existence left her with a resounding case of ".... HUH?"]

[Why were they here?]

[Was it some kind of silly prank?]

[Did they think it was her birthday?]

[WHAT WAS THIS.]

[She had to know, so ... when in doubt, turn to the network.]}

_{[The camera's not showing the boxes (since she has no idea anyone else got any so she's not sure if she should show them or not.]}

_{[... And then her brows furrow.]}

_{[She gets up abruptly and the network'll get a glimpse of an obscenely fuzzy young Murkrow with an epic case of bed-head plumage sitting on top of one of the boxes and viciously fighting with a bit of ribbon before the feed cuts out.]

[Anyone walking around the inn will find Heather looking at the boxes with a mixture of trepidation and confusion.]}

I had Pepper, but having double the fire power won't hurt! Especially since we're going to Azalea after this, so it's the way longer route.

Yeah, I mean, Cooj already has fire covered, but... _{[THANKFULLY, his fires went OUT after he'd started them if they were doused in water. Ponytas, however, seemed to have an everlasting flame.]}

Why're you heading back to Azalea? Need to get the badge?

Naoto wants it! I'm still not a big fan of the challenges, but Kanzeon had a blast beating up Morty's ghosts.

What's that gym like, anyhow? Is the guy tough?

Morty? He's not too bad, especially if you've got a Normal-type like Kanzeon with Foresight. You've just gotta watch out for Curse.

Well... Arty's one of those ferret things, too... I wonder if SHE knows that attack.

Most normal attacks won't even dent a ghost. Foresight lets 'em hit, which is as simple as I can make it.

... Man... I just haven't been using any of the moves that don't actually involve hitting the other guy with something.

_{[This might be one of the reasons Heather doesn't have anywhere near as many badges as the others who have been here as long as she has do.]}

Geez... that's probably why so many people have a hard time in Gym battles. All that stuff that raises and lowers attack and defense actually helps, you know!

I'm used to the HIT 'EM HARD, KNOCK 'EM DOWN kinda fighting!

In my defense, back where I come from we don't have crazy magical moves that do that kinda stuff... y'pretty much just whack things until they die.

Well, sometimes that worked in our battles, too. But attack and defense and evasion stuff came in handy a lot of the time.

Hmm... well, evasion I can see...

_{[You can practically hear the gears grinding in her head. She totally never put that much thought into her Pokemon battles before.]}

You haven't fought Falkner yet, right? Are you letting Cujo handle it?

Cujo? I... I dunno yet. Maybe. I was just... kinda gonna wing it and see what happened, I guess.

He and Arty are a LOT stronger, now... Claudy, too.

Yeah. She's not as strong as Arty or Cooj but she's still pretty damn good.

... Don't think I'll be having Honey fight, though. I guess birds are good against bugs or something, right?

If you think about it like a bird and worm kind of... uh, food chain...

I GUESS that makes sense... considering the bugs can like... use psychic mindrays and shoot needles the size of baseball bats SHOULD kinda even the odds, though, don't you think?

If the bug can last long enough to use it!
