78. [Video/Action for Ecruteak Inn]

_{[It's a fairly common occurrence for Godzilla the Totodile to hijack Heather's 'Gear-- he's sort of had an affinity for filming ever since he first hatched, after all. But apart from his one little act of philanthropy a few weeks back, he's actually been surprisingly absent for the most part, at least in the sense that he hasn't been filming with the 'Gear much, with or without permission.]

[But TODAY when Heather's feed fizzles on, it's not the blond trainer but instead the little blue crocodile Pokemon.]

[His pebbled brows are furrowed, though, and ... are those BAGS under his eyes? Is it even possible for reptiles to GET bags under their eyes? Is Heather just rubbing off on him or what?]

[He seems to be sitting on the little balcony outside his trainer's room at the Ecruteak Inn, stubby legs dangling off the edge between the rail bars. Ecruteak is a quiet town at night, and as such there's none of the loud nightlife that characterizes many late-night city posts. Just crickets, and the occasional sound of people or Pokemon moving about in the brightly-lit room behind him.]

[It's a moment or two before he actually says anything, but the look in his red eyes is deeper and more contemplative than the normally self-centered little animal usually has.]}

... What do you have to do to be a good Pokemon?

_{[AIDAN IS ON THIS. Actually, he just looks a little confused, head tilted and ears pointed forward all attentive as he studies the feed (which Cooper helpfully turned on for him, because that's what he does anytime he spots a pokémon feed these days).]}

_{[A lavender shadow slinks out of the hotel room and slithers up behind the worried little pokemon.]}

[Hello fellow reptile. You look a lot like Chimera here used to, and you're asking something he wondered about a lot when he was your size and Envy wasn't such a good trainer, so he really wants to help.]

Well, there are a lot of different things you can do. Why do you ask?

[It's pretty clear that Mathis is using this with Bijou's help- the Houndoom and Eevee seem to be joined at the hip.]

[This is a Thing that happened, and the Serious Houndoom does not forget how he screwed up. Luckily, Bijou is a little bit more cheerful.]

[Have a lovely close-up of a blue snout for a few seconds, followed by a snort.

The 'Gear falls to the ground for a split second, giving a lovely view of the sky before Jaws manages to pick it back up.]

_{[Zilla turns his head to look at the little walking egg. He's been around a great deal longer than she has, but the sad truth is that she's probably more mature.]}

I stopped biting people and I still feel bad.

_{[Godzilla frowns.]}

I try to listen to her but she still doesn't seem happy!

_{[... That might be because you ripped a bunch of flesh off of her elbow without any sort of warning a few months ago, buddy...]}

What am I doing wrong?

_{[... And then he frowns further at the appearance of the Meowth. Oh. ... Yeah he doesn't like her so far.]}

_{[The answer Aiden gets is almost pathetically emo.]}

_{[UH OH HERE COMES TROUBLE.]

[Godzilla has undoubtedly interacted with Burger before, but he's probably never been caught in a moment of contemplation and self-loathing before. The little crocodile turns his head to face the feline, pebbled brows creased apprehensively.]}

_{[Burger wiggles on the spot and oozes up next to Zilla, his long freakish tail undulating the whole time, moving in-time with the cat's braincogs. It never. Stopped. Moving.]}

The first thing you should do is let her know that you're so happy to see her every morning. This works best if you sit on her chest and stare at her until she opens her eyes.

_{[Aw Chimera, you're a good Pokemon.]

[The Totodile's tone is plaintive. This is something that's really been bothering him.]}

Because I've been pretty bad... and I don't wanna be anymore.

_{[There's some clacking noises as Zilla fiddles with the 'Gear, scrunching up his snout.]}

... Well, she... she already looked into the back of a Shedinja. But I wasn't there. 'Lessa was.

_{[And from somewhere off-screen, a low female Pokemon voice grumbles--]}

That wasn't my fault.

_{[Godzilla just ignores her. Ironically (considering this entire depressive moment of contemplation is all about how self-centered he's been), this conversation is about HIM and how HE can be a better Pokemon.]}

And I've BEEN trying... but she's still not happy.

_{[She hadn't been treating him BADLY or anything, but... she'd still been noticeably distant compared to before, ever since he'd bitten her. :(]}

_{[... O-OH GOSH IT WAS A GROWNUP-- at first the little Totodile looks somewhat intimidated, but his fleshy throat bobs and he plucks up the nerve to keep speaking, holding the 'Gear up with both webbed paws.]}

So I should evolve?

_{[He... could have evolved months ago. But he'd been keeping himself from it on purpose... mostly because he liked all the attention he got on account of being little and cute. But it's pretty obvious those months of wanting to be spoiled and babied are something he's not happy about now, for whatever reason.]}

_{[Godzilla makes an unsure face.]}

... Well, I used to do that a lot... but she never liked it. Usually she was just mad.

_{[DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE WAKING UP TO BIG RED REPTILIAN EYES? DO YOU?]}

Hmm~

_{[The Glameow looks at his own dainty paws. They were great paws, weren't they? Not big gnarly claws.]}

That does require a certain touch. Have you tried leaving gifts in her shoes? My Trainer loves gifts.

_{[Who doesn't love half-mauled Ratatta that eventually regain consciousness and then have to be battled or chased out of the room?]}

[And once again, Napalm is rescuing the camera from the excited little Dog, who seems to be following in Godzilla's footsteps.]

[She should shut it off, but the ~~Momix~~ Onix gives the video a considering look, instead.]

Is something the matter?

_{[Well THAT gets his attention. He's never tried to give his trainer gifts before-- usually he's just ASKED for them. ... Or... well, demanded. Whether or not he got his wishes usually depended on how willing Heather had been to put up with his bullshit at the time. As spoiled as he was, she'd never been the type to coddle.]}

[Jaws just blinks a few times and makes a weird, throaty sound. He is contemplating!

Hmm~ How about weaker pokemon? Show her how strong you are and how you'd take care of her if she couldn't feed herself!

Or pretty rocks. Or leaves. My Trainer wears leaves in his hair all the time.

Ooh! Ooh~ You could give her headbutts. You have to be assertive! You have to say, 'Here I am! I am the best pokmeon!'

_{[Only Burger was best, not Zilla. He could be second-best. That'd be okay.]}

_{[Oh man, it was another big Pokemon... Godzilla had always felt intimidated and defensive in the presence of anything larger than, say, Cujo. But at least she was on the other side of the screen... that, and he was starting to realize those feelings hadn't been of fear so much as worrying he'd be dwarfed in comparison.]

[Psh. 'Zilla has nothing to be afraid of, where Napalm is concerned. She's huge, but, quite literally has a 'gentle' nature.]

[She tilts her head to the side, looking as worried as a rock can look.]

[Chimera tilts his head, and makes a concerned sound.]

Then if you don't want to be bad, you're already a good Pokemon. Is your trainer upset about something?

[SO SOMEONE is finally making his way back to Ecruteak, all moped out and everything. He actually doesn't see Zilla's post (he had been ignoring his gear for a few days, anyway), and is hovering around the lobby front desk.

Biz is perched on his head (as usual) with Kei curling around his feet, and it seems Moonlight the Cleffa has made Kaito's shoulder her home perch. The entire group just looks... well. Tired, and even if he's all moped out, Kaito himself is still wearing an annoyed look as he drums his fingers against the desk]

Does it take that long for them to find a room key? Geez...
