_{[It's quiet.]

[In more ways than one.]

[Actually, 'quiet' is a pretty good word to describe everything over the past few days, from Heather's perspective.]

[She's been quiet. After making an angry spectacle of herself in front of everyone, she hadn't been in much of a talkative mood. The trip down Route 38 had been spent largely in solemn silence, even after Crow had joined them mid-journey-- something that practically didn't seem possible.]

[The network's been quiet. Relatively, anyway. So many previously-prolific voices had vanished. Those who were left had understandably been left to pick up the pieces of everything that had come undone and, well, it's hard to blame them for being quiet-- those ones who had lost people, anyway. God knows Heather couldn't muster the fire to keep getting angrier as word of new disappearances had continued to flow in. The moment when she had seriously considered destroying a harmless Pokemon egg and its contents had been the moment she'd burnt herself out.]

[And, perhaps the only one that's sort of comforting right now, the city is quiet. The hustle and bustle of summer is both long ago and far in the future and as such, Olivine City in February is a great deal calmer than it had been the last time Heather had been here. That's sort of good, really. They've all needed to do a lot of thinking lately.]

[It's morning-- hardly even dawn yet.]

[At first, the camera isn't even SHOWING Heather. More a very close view of the floor, and the railing at the top of the staircase leading up from the lobby of the Olivine Inn. The cameraman is probably a Pokemon, but who knows which one it is... Godzilla has long since retired from his 'Gear-stealing shenanigans and so has Butch, now that he can WOOOOOO and QUAAAAAAG at his beloved Flapper in person.]

[But whichever one it is, it carries the camera with an air of quiet determination, and once it situates itself within view of its trainer, who seems to be sitting silently by a window in the deserted lobby, it sits itself down with a rustle and zooms in.]}

_{[Eyes shut, she almost looks asleep, except for the fact that she's absent-mindedly stroking something with one finger-- something bristly-looking and pale yellow that seems to be in the process of contentedly nuzzling its way under her chin. ... Something with four bright blue eyes not dissimilar to the odd markings on that little egg she had been threatening to crush last week.]

[The video doesn't last long. It lingers on Heather and the new Pokemon for fifteen or twenty seconds, and then shuts off. Whoever had been filming, it seemed, had no agenda outside of showing the network that, no, Heather had not gone through with her impulsive plan. Fortunately.]

[The whole time, Heather just carries on obliviously.]

[Remembering hurts... but there's nothing anybody can do to change that.]

[Half to herself and half to the creature, who doesn't seem to be aware of how close it had come to maybe NOT EVER GETTING TO HATCH, she mumbles after a few seconds.]}

... Stage five. I think.

That's acceptance, right?

Nice addition to your team by the way. It seems this pokemon is particularly common for whatever reason. [ Maybe because you can step on it! ]

... I decided to see what would happen...

_{[There's some static on the feed-- it happens every time she strokes the little thing. There's also a sort of rustle as Heather shrugs at the second part.]

[Eh... who cares if it's common...]}

And now you seem perfectly satisfied with the result. [ She notices the static but she doesn't find it comment worthy. She'll let Heather have her small victories for now. ]

I don't know if I'd call it satisfied, but...

_{[It's hard to be 'satisfied' with how everything's turned out. But... okay with, she supposes. She's certainly not COMPLAINING about her new Pokemon.]}

I don't regret not killing it, if that's what you mean.

I believe that is satisfaction, as long as you don't have any regrets about your decision. But I should warn you I'm not one to debate semantics. We might just be using two entirely different dictionaries after all.

[ SHE'S STILL RIGHT!

Yeah, I guess there's not much point in getting ultra specific...

My egg has hatched as well. Though, it's a bit unusual compared to some selections and coloration. [ She got a shiny one! ] Do you wish to see? [ She trusts her enough to lose the text or voice. Sort of. ]

_{[She hasn't heard about the shinies yet.]}

Uh... sure. What'd you get?

[ The feed briefly flicks on to show Lust. She's quite focused and has a poker face. She says nothing as she pans the feed to a glistening, shiny, Cubchoo. He continuously sparkles as snot drips through his nose repeatedly. ]

A true winner. Its species appears to be Cubchoo. Searches on it have proven itself ineffective.

_{[... What a majestic animal.]}

... That's... huh.

What's it supposed to look like?

_{[As an aside, she notes in the back of her mind that this is the first time she's actually seen 'Isabella's face.]}

Like the same thing but blue, and without the sparkles.

[ It sneezes before it starts to flex its cub muscles! Lust makes a quiet, off screen tsk. ]

Weird...

_{[... But she does, despite everything, muster up a quiet laugh at the sight of the bear's antics.]

[It's kind of hard NOT to laugh.]}

Hold on. It gets worse.

[ The shiny Cubchoo's snot is absolutely glittery. It slowly starts to drip from his nose and then - achoo - it explodes in a discharge. The snot bubble filled that was absolutely glittery quickly turns into a cloud of glitter. Yep. It sneezes glitter. Ke$ha has arrived in Johto. ]

... That's the most festive sneeze I have ever seen.

It goes from festive to irritating once you see it the third time. Or if you're caught in it the first time. [ Not that she was, but some others were and it was both humiliating and disgusting. She approved. On the inside at least. I mean, it could be done without the snot but that's what made it so humiliating! ]

You're gonna have glitter everywhere.

_{[Heather knows this from experience. It only takes ONE sixth grader bringing in a poster for school with glitter on it and then suddenly glitter is all over the building.]}

It leaves trails of it wherever we walk. A local news report commented on the Goldenrod streets being covered in a mysterious, slimy, golden glittery liquid that hardened. [ There's an implicit tone in her voice that says "fucking ew". Glitterod! Where Heather's statements really do come true! ]

_{[Okay, the immature side of her (which is a pretty big side) can't help but start to giggle slightly at the whole situation.]}

You're secretly famous for like... the grossest thing ever.

I thought there would have been much grosser in Johto, but it's always reassuring to know I'm the best at something. [ Her voice can't get much more sarcastic than the tone she's currently using. ]

Every little achievement counts, right?
