98. [Action for Saffron City, backdated to Friday]

[It's funny, because these sorts of weekends have come to be ones that Heather dreads, clear memories or no. She doesn't remember much of them when they roll around, but she remembers enough, and usually what she remembers is bad.]

[So yeah, she's sort of been walking on eggshells, waiting for this to happen.]

[BUT... between all the craziness going down throughout November... bundling over to Kanto with the rest of her family to cheer Crow on during the Tournament, spending Thanksgiving in the packed-to-bursting household of a grumpy FBI agent and the enormously large family unit he seems to have somehow gathered (despite... being himself) ...]

[It drives weird dreamy weekends filled with amnesia and horror and the Koolaid Man bursting through the wall out of the mind, a little!]

[.... Which is why, yeah, uh, she's out taking Cooj for a nighttime walk on Friday night, and doesn't quite notice anything's up yet.]

[Or the pink bunny following her around.]

[OOC: Tags may be horrendously slow due to NaNo, but I had to hiatus-break at least a LITTLE for 4th Wall! Robbie the Rabbit will be lingering in the background of any given thread, but feel free to throw anything at Heather and not bother with the spooky pink bunny chillin over there.]

[That's probably a good life decision, seeing as Crow seems to believe slowing down on corners is for losers, too.

... As is watching the road, apparently, since at some point, he turns around to Heather.]

Ain't it awesome? Too bad I can't show you a Riding Duel! That'd be really something!
darkenedgales: (head on towards tomorrow)

[Seeing that, Crow can't help but laugh. After years of riding a D-Wheel, not to mention dueling on it, high speed becomes something natural, so Heather's reaction is actually kind of funny.]

C'mon, you're gonna miss the view that way!

[He assumes that weird growl she's made, whatever it was supposed to be, was referring to what he'd mentioned earlier.]

Riding Duel! It's a duel played while riding D-Wheels.
darkenedgales: (oh hey we're in 3D!)

[It's a good thing Martha somehow doesn't object to her boys' hobby, though it's probably mostly because a) she trusts them not to get themselves killed (how justified that is is another question), and b) knows very well they love it way too much to stop.

Back during his early days in Johto, the fact people were so shocked with the idea of playing the card game while riding confused the hell out of Crow, given how there's nothing unusual about it back home, but at this point he just finds it amusing. And a bit sad at the same time, too, because damn, people must have really boring lives in their worlds.]

Exactly! Don't get me wrong, ground duels are cool, too, but this is something else!

[If by "insane" you mean "amazing", then yes, that covers it.]

[Crow throws his head back and laughs. Even if she had, he wouldn't have taken it as an offense -- he'd been called that and worse and hardly ever had, after all.]

Maybe! But if I am, then so's the rest of my world.

[Which is probably actually true, um.

The duelist gives Heather a confident smirk over his shoulder.]

... And where's the fun in doing things the "normal" way, huh?

[Not that Riding Duels feel anything but "normal" to him, but even back in Neo Domino, they aren't quite as wide-spread as the ground ones, seeing as they require a whole different set of skills to play.]
darkenedgales: (leave it to crow the bullet-sama!)

[personal profile] darkenedgales 2012-12-18 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
[SOUNDS BORING.

Crow lets out an amused snort, because really? Really? Even overreactions have limits.]

C'mon, D-Wheelers ain't suicidal. We know what we're doing. Dying in an explosion? That doesn't happen!

[Although, now that she mentions it, he thinks back to the Ghost incident, as well as how the final match of WRGP ended and--

Oh.

Welp.]

... Often.
darkenedgales: (i heard u liek mudkipz)

[personal profile] darkenedgales 2012-12-18 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[... Not gonna lie, he kind of does, even if that wasn't his intention. Which is why his lips curl up in a tiny but visible sly smile as he feels her arms tighten around his waist.]

Just keep in mind I've still gotta breathe, 'kay?
darkenedgales: (gotcha.)

[personal profile] darkenedgales 2012-12-19 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[Which would probably not be the best decision; surely Heather doesn't want Crow to be any less focused on driving than he already appears to be?

Well, there have been instances of people fastening themselves to their D-Wheels... The result being one of them getting literally ripped in half and the other being blown up during their respective duels.]

Not sure if you'd really wanna be strapped to a D-Wheel. Just in case it, y'know, crashed or something.

I know I wouldn't.

[... He's kidding.

Mostly.

Probably.]
darkenedgales: (you sure you're not high?)

[personal profile] darkenedgales 2012-12-21 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Hm?

[... People pay attention to such things?

Crow glances down at the screen on the dashboard for a moment before replying.]

Just 'bout 120 kmph or so.

[He's going really slow just for you. c:]
darkenedgales: (prepare for trouble and make it double)

[personal profile] darkenedgales 2012-12-21 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[Perhaps he can't hear that, but Crow can definitely feel her face digging into his back. Which, of course, he couldn't let go without a comment.]

What's that? [... Oh no, he's not gonna--] You're scared?

[He did.]
darkenedgales: (my hands are double-jointed)

[personal profile] darkenedgales 2012-12-23 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, can't hear ya! Not when you talk like that, anyway.

[He imagines it wasn't anything nice, though. Sounded more like a roar.]

Seriously though, you're gonna miss the whole point of the ride that way. Or break my back. Whichever comes first.
