115. [Text/Action for Mahogany]
General announcement here
I don't really know what kinds of contacts Dad kept here but for anyone who knew him, Harry Mason is gone. His stuff was mostly left to me and one other person so I guess that's really all there is to say about it.
Later.

[Heather's always mostly let her Pokemon run free-- or at least the more reliable ones-- when the gang is bunkered down at a hotel somewhere. After all, not everybody gets to come along when they're between cities, so time spent outside of the box by default takes place mostly within walking distance of a Pokemon Center.]
[Today there can be a small cluster of Pokemon seen by the entrance of the Mahogany Inn. A Manectric, unusually subdued for anyone who knows her, gently licking the head of a Pikachu. The electric mouse has a slightly crumpled sheet of paper in her paws, and behind her, a Noctowl shelters a small, rotund Hoothoot with one wing while peering over the Pikachu's shoulder.]
[While it's little more than coos and soft canine whuffles to most ears, any Pokemon or person with a sensitive ear can probably pick up the quiet muttering coming from the group.]
It's okay, Hazel. My trainer went away too but New Trainer always takes good care of me. She even shares her lunches.
I-I know...
Just think though, now we can play all the time. I know we're sad, but that will be fun, right?
Now is not the time to be talking about playing, Tricia. Have some tact.
Okay, okay...
W-... where is Mr. Trainer's daughter, a-anyway? She just left after seeing the letter...
Up on the roof. Sunny is with her, so she will be fine... Probably. Come, we should go collect the others. She... will come down when she's ready.

[Tricia the Manectric, Hazel the Pikachu, Claudy the Noctowl]

[text]
because you know if they had I'd have to fly out and find you.
[Nobody should be alone after something like this happens.]
[text]
honestly envy if you wanted to do that anyway i wouldn't stop you
not to sound clingy
but when shit like this happens...
it makes you want to get hold of everyone left and keep them close
you know?
[text]
[Does he ever know.]
and you know me, once I get an idea in my head I can't be talked out of it. where are you?
[text]
still in mahogany
might make plans to head out in the next few weeks but for now we're not going anywhere
we... still have to figure out exactly what to do with dad's stuff
[Most of it they're keeping, obviously. But it's not something that's easy to think about so soon.]
[text]
[When they're ready for it, anyway.]
I'll be there in a couple of days
[[OOC: Since this would have already happened, do you want to just switch this thread to action?]]
[text ---> action] sure!
okay
thanks i'll see you then
[action]
[action]
[To her credit, she doesn't look like a wreck. She's never been Henry's brand of 'hide in bed for days and don't eat or shower' breakdowns. But the shadows under her eyes are deeper than they've ever been.]
[She walks right up and hugs him, if he lets her. No greeting.]
[action]
[This time, he just hugs her back without saying a thing. He doesn't know what to say anyway. After a second, he raises one hand to lightly ruffle her hair.]
[action]
[But right now she's still, and silent, and her face is buried against his shoulder somewhere.]
[When he ruffles her hair, she breaks the quiet and mumbles--]
Thanks for coming.
[action]
[He forces his tone to be light and normal and with an edge of almost humor to it. Sometimes there's comfort in familiarity, after all. It's worrying how still and quiet she's being...and knowing the reason why doesn't make it less of a worry.]
Show up when they're needed for hugs?
[Yeah, he'll just keep holding onto her until she's done.]
[action]
[Removing an arm to swipe at her eyes, she lets go a little bit.]
Anyway, um... figure it'd be dumb to make you come all this way for a hug'n nothing else, so I ordered a pizza. You hungry?
[action]
Yes.
[And then, more sheepishly--]
I mean, yeah. Pizza sounds good.
[action]
C'mon up to the room. They have this delivery Dragonite who comes straight to your window. It's kinda cool.
[action]
[He follows after her, a little more closely than he normally would.]
Is Henry up there too?
[action]
He hasn't liked being in the hotel room too much, since... since Dad went.
[She can understand why. It feels weird and a little alien without him there.]
[action]
It's...weird, staying someplace after someone's gone.
[His group had stayed at Nanao's house for a month or so after she'd left the first time, but it had felt...well yeah, alien. Emptier.]
[action]
There's this permanent feeling like something's wrong. Like you're not really supposed to be there anymore.
[It's a feeling she's intimately familiar with. After all, before coming to Johto she'd still been living in the same apartment she'd shared with her father. Even nearly a year after his death, that feeling had never fully gone away.]
[action]
Not without them.
[But assuming there's room for it he'll lightly bump his shoulder into hers.]
[action]
[So she just nods her agreement, then pulls out the keys as they near the room.]
I've been sitting on the roof a lot lately.
You wanna eat up there?
[action]
[Up a tree or on a roof is usually where you'll find him if he's not happy about something, so it makes perfect sense to him.]
The pizza Dragonite ought to deliver up there, I don't see why it wouldn't.
[action]
Yeah, we can wave an SOS sign at it or something. Universal signal for 'Please give us pizza'.
[action]
What're we going to use for a sign?
[action]
[Heather makes her way up them slowly.]
Actually I was sort of just thinking we could wave our arms and look really pathetic and hungry.
