"Yo, it's Heather. I'm probably asleep or one of the Pokemon ate my 'Gear or something so I can't answer you right now. But feel free to leave a message or something.
I'll probably get back to you. ... Probably. Peace out."

[Angling her head a little, as though that would change anything, she raises her voice to speak to the offscreen Voltorb.]
Get used to it, buddy.
Nobody can get around with just one Pokemon forever.

He's gotten a little better about it. I've only gotten shocked twice today, and I think part of that was because breakfast was late.
[Jean had made the grievous error of trying to feed the Rattata first. He won't be making that mistake again.]
She was eating our trash and Blitz was trying to scare her off, and I threw a Pokeball at him to shut him up and caught her instead.
video
I caught her pretty much specifically because she was perched overhead and making horrible dying old woman screams, and I don't know about anybody else, but I sure don't have time for that when I'm camping in the woods at 2 AM.
[Not the EXACT same situation, but still sort of an 'accidental' catch.]
video
[Horrible screaming in the middle of the night? No thanks, Jean hears enough of that in his dreams.]
So you have an owl one too? My friend Armin has a hoot hoot.
[Jean lowers his voice conspiratorially.]
Blitz kicked his ass in a fight.
video
And what'd I tell ya?
Electric destroys Flying types.
[LOOK AT HIM HE'S LEARNING SO FAST.]
video
[Sage nod, as though he's been doing this for years instead of a few weeks.]
I'm glad I have another one now, though. I'm going to run into a ground type sooner or later and then Blitz will be in trouble.
[Someone has been doing his homework.]
Any recommendations for what would be good to catch next?
video
I'd recommend getting a Fire type, but I honestly forget if there are any down there. Water would be another good thing to have, and there's always Water-types around.
Magikarp, Poliwag...
Magikarp's a good one.
They're totally useless for ages but if you're real patient, they get wicked strong when they grow up.
video
Are those those stupid fish that just flop all over the place? Those turn into something good?
[And here Jean had just thrown them back when he'd caught them fishing.]
video
Let me guess-- you haven't bothered to catch one, right?
[SHE'S BEEN THERE. SHE KNOWS.]
video
[Dammit!]
What do they turn into?
video
Why don't you train one and find out?
video
[Logic!]
video
[... Well, I mean, there'll be the 4x type weakness, but Gyarados are terrifying and Heather's pretty sure they can hold their own. Even if she beat one with a Pikachu once.]
It can learn 'Earthquake'.
Re: video
What.
[Who knew those stupid fish were actually worthwhile?]
I... I need to go back to that pond and catch one.
video
Just remember-- patience.
video
Thanks for the tip. I would've just ignored those things forever if I didn't know better.
