I was fine just staying out of the way but I think he wants me to come with him.
[Yup, definitely text for a good reason. The last thing Ed wants to do is crash A Homunculus Christmas Party, and that's basically how it feels to him at this point. No one's going to want him there except Al and he doesn't want to make things awkward.]

[WELL THAT... SHAKES THINGS UP A BIT.]
[And yet, Heather can really only think of ONE person who would have serious objections to Edward being in the house. ... It also has been many months since Edward arrived to begin with. She's not sure how much Envy's perspective on the matter has evolved, but it's been long enough that she knows the shock has worn off at the very least. He's no longer ranting and raving about Edwaaard Ellllriiiic every five minutes.]
Well it's Al's home too.
Technically he can bring whoever he wants as long as they don't just start breaking shit or trying to stab anybody without permission
[Because of course there are rules for stabbing. Everybody needs to be on board first!]

[Yes, that's the part he's latching onto. What an interesting house hold.]
His home or not, it's a holiday and I don't want to make it awkward for a bunch of people that have been getting along fine together before I showed up.
[Or... himself. He definitely doesn't want to make shit awkward for himself.]

[NOT REASSURING but I mean. What do you expect from a house of monsters and monster-slayers. ... Especially since one of those monsters literally does throw knives at the circus. That was a really tense couple of weeks at the house before Wrath really got the hang of it.]
But in all seriousness... you're not the first person to show up here and make things awkward for someone in the house and you almost definitely won't be the last.
I mean, the last guy was a serial killer.
You're just the brother.
That's pretty tame by comparison no matter how melodramatic Envy is about it.

It's not like this is a regular family feud, the guy hates me enough to spend years looking forward to murdering me.
[And as much as Envy's petty hatred over genetics makes him the one in the wrong, it is Envy's space and Envy was here first so the logical answer in Ed's mind is to avoid it as much as possible. Al's home or not.]
no subject
I know.
And believe me I also know "Well he calmed down" isn't exactly reassuring.
How badly does Al want to come home?
[Sent after a bit of a pause. Because... Ed has a point, of course. And none of them want to disrupt things. But she really doesn't like to think about Al being homesick and displaced.]
[They've spent every Christmas here for the past... god, has it been three years?]
I DISTINCTLY REMEMBER TAGGING THIS
Bad enough that he brought it up in the first place and invited me along.
[Which was more than enough for him to take it that this was important to Al. A pause before the next message.]
Yeah he might have calmed down but that doesn't mean he wants me showing up at his house uninvited.
[Al's home or not, it was still Envy's home too, and Ed is just. Pointedly not going to think about that. That'll work.]
no subject
If you just unexpectedly popped up outside the window like a jack-in-the-box I'm pretty sure he'd blow a gasket.
But Al DID invite you.
[Of course, that means the onus is on Alphonse for unexpectedly bringing Ed into the house, so... maybe not much better.]
Assuming you're okay with visiting at all, I'm pretty sure I could swing it.
[Because it doesn't feel right to basically ban Al from coming home for Christmas. ... You know what, yeah. This is gonna happen.]
How does a short visit sound?
You and Al come over for brunch or dinner for a few hours or something and if Envy doesn't like it he can put his big kid pants on and deal with it.
[He'll be HOPPING MAD but... well, if she can't convince him to suck it up, why does she even have the girlfriend status.]
no subject
Al did but that's not the same
[Not that he thinks Envy would ever invite him, just that it made it incredibly awkward to show up no matter who invited him. Still, if Heather was going to extend an invitation, he could accept that. Not only because it wasn't just Al now, but for Al's sake, and the fact that Envy was probably able to be reasoned with by her, if no one else. Just from Ed's observation that time on the train.]
Yeah, you know what I'll talk to him and see what time he's thinking about stopping by.
[And try not to wither up and die between now and then. Besides, he has a backup plan, and that back up plan is to lock himself in the first available room to avoid anyone who might still try to murder him if they all had their abilities in this world.]
no subject
It's a plan then!
And I'll handle Envy.
[For a second she ALMOST TYPED 'He'll be so handled he won't even know what to do with himself' but then the godawful innuendo occurs to her and she has never hit the backspace so hard in her life.]
This will give Lust an excuse to go buy extra wine and fancy desserts so I mean she'll be more pleased than anybody probably.
[It doesn't matter WHO'S coming over, Lust knows an opportunity when she sees one.]
