AUDIO: PRIVATE MESSAGE TO JAMES SUNDERLAND
[It's the first time Heather's contacted James in awhile. Her voice is a little raspy and croaky for some reason, though there's forced casualness in its tone.]
Hey... James?
Yeah, uh... I just wanted to apologize for snapping at you that one time when you brought up... you know.
I just wanted to let you know... it's not one of the cult members.
He's the real thing.
[Then several seconds of awkward silence-- a snuffly cough, and then the message ends.]
[ooc: If someone REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted to hack into Heather's outgoing messages, they could probably listen to this, not that it would tell them much of anything. Lol vague Heather is vague.]

That's good... man you shoulda seen it around Violet. That shit was crazy.
no subject
Oh? I hope no one there was badly hurt from the flooding.
no subject
Well... hey. It's not that hopeless... I mean... [There was a jovial, forced laugh on her end.] My dad showed up and he's dead. So-o, how senseless could it be for your wife to maybe pop up?
[DURR HURR HURR HURRRRRR irony.]
Nah, I don't... think anyone was. ... I mean... there were some people missing, but... [Naturally, Heather actually kind of... assumed the worst in that regard. When people disappeared during a flood, it usually just meant that their bodies had been washed out too far for anyone to find.]

Dead...[It was almost an inaudible whisper.]
[There was a long pause, probably longer than what was intended.]
Well, that's true... Who knows what could happen.
[SO ABOUT THEM DEAD FAMILY MEMBERS, AMIRITE?]
Missing? [That was never a good sign.] Well, I hope those who have gone missing show up soon...

I'm not sayin' it's gonna happen, but... don't lose hope, y'know? Weirder things have happened.
And... yeah. I hope so, too. [Her forced cheerful tone turns to a surprisingly bitter mumble.] The last thing anyone needs after being forced to go on this stupid adventure in the first place is to drown.
no subject
Well, yeah. No one knows if it is going to happen. But, yeah I'll try to stay optimistic... Even if it's hard.
Yeah... I hope everyone is okay. [Worried James is worried.]
no subject
Just try your best. S'all anyone can do, really. [She tried her best to sound encouraging.]
no subject
So are you still in Violet? [James hasn't been keeping track of people like he had before, monotonous work is distracting after all.]
no subject
[The question was met with a frustrated sigh.] Yeah... I was planning on leaving sooner, but... I don't really know what I'm gonna do now. So I've sort of been loitering around here.
no subject
[There's a pause before he starts again.]
But I'm not too entirely sure you'll want to wait around that long. I heard the road to Violet is pretty dangerous since the pokemon are stronger and I haven't exactly been training mine.
no subject
[Then she paused. Thoughtfully.]
... Mine are pretty tough by this point. ... You want me to come meet you halfway? [Because... it wasn't like she was doing anything important in Violet.]
no subject
I actually would really like that, I'd feel safer if you did meet me half way. 'Fraid there isn't much I can really do with two fish and a hippolizard that I think has downs... Or that hoppip thing. [There was a string of irritation when he mentioned the hoppip. That darned thing had gotten him in trouble at work more times than he'd like to mention.]

It's a deal, then. I don't mind leggin' it back a ways. This city's been getting on my nerves anyway. [On one hand, it was really nice being able to hang out around a bunch of people she'd become fond of-- but on the other, Heather had a restless streak and loitering around doing nothing, not even getting a job, was getting to her.] My dudes are pretty good at keeping the wildlife away.
no subject
Well, thanks I appreciate it. I'll be sure to contact you here in a day or two when I'm ready to leave. [Which this is a good thing considering it was almost seeming like James was going to sit in Cherrygrove forever.]
no subject
It's not that bad a hike. Long, but I'm sure between us we can make it go quick, right?
no subject
If we can make this quick, that'd be great.
BELATED REPLY CUZ I FORGOT THAT HEATHER WOULD SAY SOMETHING TO THIS HERP DERP
