89. [Video/Action for travel group]

_{[A short while after the singing wild Pokemon and egg presents had died down, a rather unfortunate discovery was made upon dialing a number she'd been meaning to dial ever since Claudia Wolf and Kaito Kuroba had disappeared from Johto.]

[Already on the road, the weather's mild enough (even with the wind picking up) that Heather decided that was pretty much a good time to pocket her Valentine's Day present and just head off for a walk. Because lord knows, she needs one.]

[It's not the first time Johto has given everyone the gift of a precious little egg, but it is the first time that Heather's found herself resenting it.]

[The video feed pops on, focused in on a tiny, pale yellow little egg hardly bigger than a chicken's, nestled in the palm of Heather's hand as dry grass goes past underfoot.]}

It would be so easy to just... crush it.

[He's been in a damn good mood for a few days now, and that barely dampens as he watches the feed. He watches for a little longer before speaking, popping his neck audibly in a bid to get comfortable and as somewhat of an indication the channel is open.]

[There's no hint of tease in his voice, just contentment that he's right in his assumption.]

_{[Her tone is challenging, but somewhat like the last time he'd spoken to her, there's something broken about it. Things hurt too much to focus on her usual bravado.]}

As said before- if was going to, would have done so already.

[He looks at Heather a little critically before continuing.]

Also, have feeling Little One would not want to emulate the ones she seems to find so upsetting... Not when is not needing to anyways.

Could always be wrong, but... Am noticing egg is still not broken.

Is correct again, has no reason to care... I did not have reason to care about little woman and pokémon I stole either, but you expected me to. Can not assume you feel same way about own actions?

[He's rather serious now, his arms folded and no hint of a smile on his features, condescending or otherwise.]

Killing that will do nothing, just as death of Romanovs did nothing for me, just as hundreds of thousands of 'traitors' being wiped off face of Earth did nothing, whether men and women were innocent or not. Was not kidding when told you how many had fallen due to me, actual statistic would most likely make head spin. Mine does.

If you kill monster, you do not just become same as this place, you become worse, you become me... And am more than aware of Little One's opinions on myself.

May not come easy to you Americans, but just think for moment before smiting entirely innocent party.

If you want to be monster you seem so desperate in being then smash egg. If not, then just mourn losses and be done with it.

[And although it kills her to admit it, this is possibly the first conversation she's had with him where she feels utterly cowed.]

[He's show more surprise if he hadn't been half expecting the defeat, perhaps not the admission, but the defeat definitely. Also, showing the fact he was actually surprised she was seeing sense (or at least, obeying his orders regardless) may have had an adverse effect.]

Put egg away then. Stop giving self temptation.

[His voice is a little softer, the tone as if he was speaking from experience. It's not as if he's the best to keep himself from temptation afterall, his own or his bosses.]

[She doesn't say anything, but she does (slowly) lower the hand with the egg. She doesn't have anywhere to put it, but taking it out of the camera's view is probably a clear enough message on its own.]}

Good. Situation is finally moving.

[He doesn't quite fall back into the big goop pile of fuzz and contentment he was before this conversation, if only because while Heather was... Well, Heather, this was a little too over the top for her, at least as far as he could gather.

True, she liked to play games, and pokéviolence was always on the cards, but considering her opinions on what was right or wrong well... that had definitely been dancing on the knife edge.]

I take it, all things considered, that you have felt this way since we last spoke? Your spark is rekindled, but under wrong furnace Little One.

[The truth is that Heather Mason is and has always been on a slippery slope-- and she'd just slid an inch or two back down it, after slowly but steadily hauling herself back up from the precipice that Silent Hill had put her on the edge of.]

[Even if she probably hadn't been going to smash the egg... the fact that she considered it at all is too close for comfort. Even for her. Even though she knows that it's the result of things building up and up and up.]}

You lose so much, and yet you think losing more will make things better?

[He thinks for a moment, realising his simple sum up is a little closer to home (rather literally) for him than he realised.]

... Can not say have not worked on same logic before. Can say though, from sounds of things, does not work out so well.

World is frustrating though, can see why would want to fuck it all.
