[She'd SEEN his changes last night. His raw, painful scrapes and bruises. She'd even been CONCERNED!]

[If he'd wanted to avoid a beating in this state, he should have thought of it before he TAPED A GODDAMN BABY TO HER WINDOW.]}

_{[She comes rattling down the hallway after him on all fours, a sight that is mildly cute and amusing when watching from afar, but DISTINCTLY LESS SO when she's coming after YOU.]

[On account of her being fast.]

[He keeps on laughing until he takes another look over his shoulder. Oh shit she is coming up fast--]

[On instinct his wings try to spread, but seeing as they're inside and also Edward is stupid, they just catch and scrape against the walls, making him curse and stumble as he tries to sprint the last few feet to the stairs.]

Oh, shit--!

_{[His fledgling fumble will be his undoing.]

[Bunching the muscles in her legs, she SPRINGS.]

[Ed will find himself pitching forward mid-stumble with four sets of talons digging into his back. Not lethally... but definitely painfully. Heather has no chill when it comes to baby-related scares.]

[Unfortunately, given that they're at the top of the stairs...]}

[It's about to get real unfunny real quick.]

[First Ed yelps and pitches forward when Heather makes contact and latches on, and then that fall turns into a tumble from their combined momentum and the ground opening up below them both. They don't go far down the steps, what with how crowded it is between two pairs of wings and Ed flailing everywhere, but it's still not really a pleasant experience.]

[It probably doesn't help much that Ed's little ember fires flare up all over him, without much regard for where Heather and her feathers might happen to be.]

_{[This situation is already bad.]

[And it's about to get even worse.]

[Because as soon as the smell of burning feathers reaches Heather's nostrils, all semblance of reason (what little there was) promptly leaves her brain like a rat from a sinking ship. Screeching, she launches off of the minotaur-turned-demon, slapping at the still-glowing embers.]

[And then there's a WHOOMP of displaced air and instead of Heather, there is a smallish bird of prey shrieking and divebombing Ed's head.]}

[Heather's shrieking doens't help witht he fire; really it only makes it worse, because now Ed's freaking out about hurting her, and since the flames are tied to his emotions...]

[Yeah. Bad times.]

[He scrambles to his feet, starting to ramble out an apology when suddenly instead of looking at Tiny Bird Sister he is looking at Actual Bird Sister very up close and personal oh god his face!]

Holy fucking MASON!

[Ed swats at her and tries to protect his face from her talons, his wings pulling around to act as a shield.]

What the fuck, calm down!

SKREE! SKREE! SKRIIIEEE!

_{[Fortunately for everyone involved, there was very little actual serious damage Heather could do in this form. But that didn't make having a set of needle-sharp talons swiping at your face and ears every five seconds any more pleasant.]

[She does not calm down.]

[There is no chill when it comes to fire and babies.]}

[Edward snarls and makes a grab for her, only really intending to restrain her, but between the fire and claws...at least his arms themselves aren't on fire now.]

_{[Luckily for him, she's not entirely USED to this form yet, considering she'd only ust discovered it mere days before.]

[So with a bit of effort he's able to catch her, although the body in his hands strains to get free. He can feel her heart hammering against his palms.]

[Also she's trying to bite him.]}

[CHILD. WOULD YOU STOP.]

[Cursing and resisting the urge to strangle her stupid tiny neck right this instant, Ed hop-steps his way back up the stairs and rushes back to Heather's room. Quickly he throws her into the room, then grabs the door and slams it shut before she can fly back at his face. YOU ARE IN TIME-OUT, YOUNG LADY.]

_{[NO! NO, SHE WILL NOT!]

[Being incredibly light, she's not exactly hard to throw... but she does wheel around right in the air and come thunking into the door just as he closes it. And judging by the heavy WHUD that follows, the impact shocked her back to normal.]

[Though slightly dazed, she's still apparently coherent (and angry) enough to pound a scaly fist on the door.]}
