Heather first received Godzilla as an egg in a trade, and he proved to be a feisty little thing even moments after hatching-- resisting any and all attempts to be removed from his egg once it started to crack. Hey, who could blame him? It's comfy in there and you don't have to do anything but sleep!
Growing up, Godzilla was a precocious little tyke, but also a walking entity of immaturity and entitlement. Which is fine when you're a baby, but after awhile it wears out its welcome and as the Totodile got bigger and retained the same inflated sense of self-importance, a rift between him and the rest of the team (those jerks) grew. This wasn't helped by his refusal to evolve and open jealousy of new, younger team-mates (especially, at the time, Cheryl). Between his growing resentment and everyone else not putting up with his shit anymore, eventually it all came to a head in blood and tears when Zilla decided he'd had enough of no longer having the world revolve around him and bit the everloving shit out of Heather's arm. Admittedly, this also happened to coincide with a Team Rocket radio broadcast that was making Water-types go absolutely nuts, but still! DAMN!
A few days, a whole lot of shunning from the rest of the team, and a buttload of stitches for Heather later, Godzilla experienced a revelation: the asshole was him all along.
And so began his epic journey for redemption, a tale spanning several years, a whole lot of soul-searching, and more than a few failed fitness routines.
Once a fat little blue tater tot and now a lean, mean, Feraligatn' machine (that's right, he finally evolved-- though not without first deciding he'd earned it), Godzilla is a whole new 'mon. His old ego has been completely obliterated (by his own choice, mind you) and he is, startlingly, one of the more sensitive and conscientious members of the team. Constantly on the search for ways to better himself both emotionally and physically (he has a tendency to eat his feelings, so sometimes this is less successful than others), he ironically frets over the immature stunts Heather pulls sometimes the same way she used to worry about what HE got into whenever she wasn't looking. He also worries about her hair attracting Combee, the chances of a meteor hitting their campsite, and whether or not talking on the PokeGear for long periods of time can cause brain cancer.
In an ironic twist of fate, he's grown particularly close to Chimera, the Tyranitar (belonging to Envy) who once gave him wise life advice when he was just a Totodile. The two spend a lot of time together and Chimera's calm presence is one of the few things that can stop a full-blown Godzilla Panic Moment in its tracks.
