No one can say that the forces that be don't have a sense of humor and a loooong memory.
When every single non-native on the Johto-Kanto peninsula got unexpectedly dumped hundreds of years in the past, AND in a completely foreign region, with NONE of their Pokemon... what was there to greet Heather, but another Growlithe?
Although Heather could barely tear her mind away from the possibility that she might never see her beloved teammates again, she did her best to be a better trainer to Twojo (yes... she named her Twojo) than she had originally been to Cujo eleven years prior.
Not that this was difficult-- Twojo is a sweet and fun-loving little pooch who was eager to be the best partner she could be. Both smaller and smarter than Cujo (bless his heart), she took to being trained very quickly and was soon strong enough to hold her own against the wild Pokemon of the region, which were much more violent and unpredictable than the ones that Heather was used to.
Much to everyone's collective relief, they all made it back to their Pokemon in the modern day, and of course, Twojo was right at home among Heather's small army of canines of varying sizes. Far from being jealous at a brand new Growlithe entering the team, Cujo instantly became inseparable from his smaller, poofier doppelganger.
