The Indigo Plateau is home to more Pokemon than many trainers realize-- being one of the most isolated places in both regions, populated only by League employees and small numbers of trainers, the native fauna and flora are unrivaled anywhere else. In fact, it's basically impossible to even find unevolved Pokemon.
Which is why, compared to having a bunch of Chimchars do it, a troop of wild Infernape stealing your shit is a problem.
Prior to challenging the Elite Four, Heather and her Pokemon had been taking a little time to explore the Plateau and see the sights when their relaxed lunch was descended upon by some particularly rowdy young Infernapes who made off with most of the food... including a Hidden Ability Candy that Heather had been planning on doling out that day. So there went THAT plan.
The ensuing chase led Heather and her Pokemon into a patch of woods where the thieves were now squabbling over their plunder. Inevitably one of them began screeching for help, which arrived in the form of their troop leader, an older, wiser, and shinier Infernape who took one look at the situation and solved the problem the same way she'd been solving disputes among her troop members for years: by taking the object of the dispute away and eating it right in front of all of them, because if you can't play nice over it then you can't have it, you big babies. 'You big babies' including Heather. Who'd just arrived. And who was not about to leave with her hands empty after witnessing that kind of sass.
You'd think, with level 100's on her side, that fighting even a very tough wild Pokemon would be no problem... well, the Indigo Plateau will poke a hole in that attitude real quick, because this monkey was leader for a reason and immediately took out both Wolf and Rowf almost without breaking a sweat. But determination (and Kite) prevailed and Heather Mason could now add "caught a shiny in the wild" to her list of achievements.
Razz Berry, as she's always been called (her Warrior Cats name, if you will), is a seasoned veteran of all the challenges of wild life among her species, and a stern matriarch with no patience for nonsense (unless it's coming from her). Like many Pokemon who live long enough in the wild, Razz Berry had mostly assumed at this point that she'd never be caught-- but she's less devastated by it and more miffed that it was a challenger who hadn't even become a champion yet and not, like, one of the Elite Four themselves. But, you know, that's how the cookie crumbles-- like Rowf, she knows how these things go and is willing to work with her new trainer and "troop".
... Up to a point.
It didn't take long for her to resort to gesturing emphatically at a razz berry every time she was referred to in conversation, and eventually Heather officially put her name down as "Raspberry" and ugh, close enough.
Because see, the part where Heather keeps jokingly calling her "Monkeyshines"? That's gotta stop.
