When the news of Silph Co.'s new artificially-created Pokemon went live, Heather was fascinated. Less with the onward march of science and more with the fact that the megacorporation was giving away their big clumsy lab-grown dogs for free.
It might not have been the most responsible decision ever to go and get one immediately, but she just had to see one in action. And, you know, getting to offer one a life outside the laboratory was kind of a big deal, too.
Needless to say, Snitter is nothing like any Pokemon Heather's ever trained before. Which is probably to be expected for something that only saw sunlight for the first time five minutes after he was handed to her. Although entirely nonaggressive, the Type: Null was jumpy and unpredictable almost to the degree of dysfunction. The slightest unexpected thing could make him fall over himself in a panic, and his clumsiness and complete lack of socialization didn't particularly endear him to other Pokemon.
However, he is incredibly sweet-natured, and even though the big pointy helmet made him EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SNUGGLE, Heather couldn't say no when this big awkward great dane/beetle griffin thing came clambering up onto the bed dragging a blanket with it.
For quite some time, Heather wrote Snitter off as an obvious case of "Eh, it was worth a try" in terms of battling. No regrets, to be clear-- just a notch on Silph Co's false advertising rap sheet. But then the incident at Resort Gorgeous had her re-thinking Snitter's capabilities as something other than a very weird and high-maintenance pet.
By the time all of that interdimensional Ultra Beast nonsense reached its climax, Snitter had fully come into his own-- encouraged by Heather's unconditional support after being directly insulted by Lusamine, he broke free of his helmet and blossomed into a big, weird, beautiful Silphally. Still awkward, still a goober, but so much more confident!
