But you've never really steered me wrong."*** When Heather first met Envy, she didn't really know he was anything other than a small angry dude with ridiculous hair and not much regard for proper pet-care. That was five years ago. And, uh, yeah. Now they're dating. NEEDLESS TO SAY, the journey from strangers to lovers was a long one with a lot of twists and turns along the way, but the prevailing thread of connection was... just that. Connection. The more the two learned about each other, the less they became 'that one sassy acquaintance who's always good for a laugh'. The truth was that the runaway god in human form and the failed reincarnation attempt had a lot in common, and not just that both could be easily be considered "monsters". Although Envy was hardly Heather's only close friend (and, likewise, Heather was certainly not the only person responsible for Envy's slow re-invention as a functional member of society), at the end of the day, they wound up being two of the very few who'd been around almost since the beginning of everyone's collective Pokemon adventure, and their closeness only grew stronger because of it. Not terribly long after Harry Mason's disappearance from Johto left Heather and Henry to once again be the only Silent Hill survivors in Johto, Envy (who had recently gained some familiar faces of his own) extended the invitation to "come crash at his place". Which then turned into a semi-permanent residence in "Shark House", or "the house that was bought purely because Greed wanted a pool to put his Sharpedos in". And, well, one thing led to another, gross embarrassing crushes were had, and then she kissed him on the roof and NOW THEY'RE A THING. Heather Mason, outside of the occasional 'dude in my shitty friend group who I make out with at parties so that we seem Cool and Mature' during high school, is very inexperienced when it comes to actually being in a relationship. Especially not one with someone she'd already been getting closer to for years, untangling each other's knots and demons one snag at a time. Against all freaking odds, she is now in a relationship with a literal ex-monster (thereby rendering her usual hangup of "wellp I'm too fucked up to smooch any of these nice people from non-M-rated canons" moot) who is just as fucked up as she is if not MORE. BUT. BUT. IT'S WORKING. She's neck-deep in this green-haired mess and SO FAR, SO GOOD.

Be just as I was. Sometimes I think very foolish things."*** If there's one thing Heather knows about Lust, it's that she's... complicated. Barring a previous conversation or two on the network, Heather met Lust in person for the first time shortly before she and Henry were invited to stay with Envy and his motley 'family' until they figured out what else they were going to be doing. If anyone had previously asked Heather to envision what Envy's 'sister' would look like, she'd have come up with a mental image entirely different from the reality. Lust was quiet, deathly serious, alarmingly beautiful in all the ways that Heather wasn't, and not much one for fun when they first met. Definitely not the kind of person Heather would go out of her way to get to know under normal circumstances. But living in the same house as someone forces you to get to know someone whether you want to or not, and especially if she's the only other woman in the building. And especially when the only other woman in the building is literally only just now living in a 'human' body for the first time. Explaining that actually, yes, humans can lose enough hair in the shower to clog an entire drain is not something Heather ever thought she'd have to do with a person her age in the year of our lord 2016, but SHE SURE DID. With many priceless moments such as that under their belts, Heather and Lust grew into friendly acquaintances, not always fully understanding each other's differences but at least appreciating them. By time New Year's Eve of 2014 rolled around, they were comfortable enough with each other to even share a bed when necessity struck due to hotel room confusion! Isn't it great to have a galpal to platonically share sleeping spaces with? Turns out it's really nice to get to doze off with a really, really pretty woman squeezed up next to y-- ... oh. Oh. Oh, no. AND THAT WAS HOW HEATHER MASON FOUND OUT SHE WAS BI. Needless to say, outside of Heather now being uncomfortably aware of Lust's... everything from that point forward, nothing happened and their friendship remains as puzzling (yet positive!) as ever. But over the course of that puppy-crush, Heather certainly learned a lot about herself. And about Lust. And about why it's not a good idea to get too involved in Homunculus relationship drama when you don't know the full story.

PLAY NICE WITH YOUR BROTHER, GOLDEN ONE

Where would you live?"*** Heather's introduction to Alphonse came in the form Envy calling her up one summer day in the throes of vengeful rage, because only outside interference could stop him from dropping everything and going on an all-out rampage after his half-brother. While she was successfully able to calm him down, her mental image of the person whose presence got him riled up was absolutely not the actual ray of sunshine who she met months later. Although instantly fond of the kid, who was nothing but friendly and helpful, Heather found his presence was a huge monkey wrench in her social circle, and she spent the better part of a year doing everything in her power to keep Envy and Al apart from each other's throats. It soon became clear that while Envy was the obvious aggressor in most cases (like, come on, Envy, the kid's... what, twelve? HE LOOKS TWELVE), Al certainly had no problem provoking the ex-Homunculus himself if a fight hadn't started already via other means. Even Heather's Pokemon got in on the mediating action; Sunny suddenly descending out of nowhere and quenching a fist-fight with nothing but the sheer volume of her downy feathers was not an uncommon occurrence. After a point, the pair's vicious family feuding slowly de-escalated from actual violence to shouting matches, then to mainly catty remarks thrown back and forth. Whew. Not that Heather isn't still more or less on high alert whenever the pair are in close quarters, but she at least doesn't have to worry as much. All homegrown conflicts aside, Heather and Al get along swimmingly and it didn't take long at all for him to fall into the role of 'little brother' squarely in her mind.

I mean, I'm the outsider, not them."*** Weirdly enough, for being one of the only people who has actually been in this world as long as Heather has, Riku isn't actually someone she knows very well. But his reputation certainly gets around-- he's a no-nonsense trainer who takes his battling very seriously. In fact, way more seriously than Heather does. Or almost anybody does. But the times they've spoken, they've largely gotten along. He seems chill.
